Fostering a wholesome, inclusive community

Forage Friends is a cozy nature-inspired mobile game currently in development by Pie Trap Studios. The game focuses on redefining what healthy means for each individual and helps the player incorporate daily movement, self care, and through narrative-driven gameplay and relaxing gardening sim aspects.

As the studioโ€™s first Marketing and Community Manager, it was my job to have a deep understanding of our target audience in order to put our best face forward and get people excited for the gameโ€™s eventual launch.

Our potential player base was looking for a safe space to explore incorporating healthy habits into their lives on their own terms, so I started by immersing myself in their online communities, doing outreach, collecting insights, and showing up in conversations as genuine partner in their journey. Also a lot of:

-Managing, planning, and creating content for Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch, and Discord

-Moderating weekly Twitch streams and 400+ member global Discord community

-Writing and sourcing content for our 1k subscriber monthly newsletter and dev blog

-Creating a brand positioning guide to ensure consistency across all communications

-Developing a strategic marketing plan and roadmap for all stages of game development

-Managing budgets for paid social advertising campaigns

-Analyzing metrics, reporting on performance, and iterating accordingly

-Helping design booths, brochures, merch, and business cards for gaming conventions

With all of the above plus thoughtful, relevant content creation and daily authentic engagement, I grew our cozy community from 0 to over 2100 in less than a year.

What I loved: Building an indie game brand from the ground up and watching our community foster real connections in real time.
