Writing and designing heartfelt narratives
Working with small indie studio Craft Brewed Games, I had an exciting opportunity to help create their very first game: Donut Slinger.
A mobile arcade game, Donut Slinger puts the player in the shoes of a donut truck driver destined to satisfy peopleโs hunger for donuts (and life itself). Gameplay involves racing against a clock to rapidly slingshot donuts into customers as they approach your truck. The more customers you feed, the higher your score.
The game features 3 modes (Practice, Story, Arcade) and multiple levels, each with unique objectives, power ups, obstacles, and bosses inspired by the city location. Players can level up, score on a leaderboard with friends, and use different slinging techniques to increase the chance of beating the level.
As the game writer, I wrote and designed the game story and created all characters as well as in-game dialogue, tutorials, and interactions. I also helped market the game, including the launch trailer and copy for the gameโs website, email newsletters, social media, and app store.
Throughout development, I collaborated with designers and developers on gameplay mechanics and interactions, as well as internal playtesting and running a closed beta.
What I loved: Being involved in all stages of development, from storyboarding our initial concepts to promoting our finished product on the app store.
